Red Zone Paddle Party Closes Out GCA Paddle Season

No photos or names will be posted to protect the identities of the gentlemen I hung out with last night at the paddle courts at the GCA. I must say however, those boys can talk and drink with the best of them. Following a couple of hours of Red Zone Paddle (players try to hit a target placed on the center back screen) the real fun began afterwards in the hut. With beer flowing and lips loosening many taboo topics were covered. Let me know if these are rumor, fact or just urban legend.

Boyce is moving out of the country and dropping out of the club.

Dirgins is a "player" and has got his moves down cold. How'd he do it?

John Ade was too busy watching American Idol to show up last night.

GCA GM knows how to take care of his members: personally delivers cold towels on a hot day and prepares "The Best" margaritas and bloody's around. Am I sucking up too much???

Check out this terrific paddle video. It's my fav.

To all my GCA players, thanks for a great paddle season and hope you hit 'em long and straight this spring and summer.

As always,

Repka and Marsh Win Golf Club of Avon Men's Paddle Championship

After a tough 3 set semifinal win against Ed Ryan and Larry Green, Jim Marsh and Steve Repka battled hard to take down past tournament champion, John Papa, and his new partner Jon Bahre 7-5, 6-1. This year's tournament had more parity than ever as many teams were newly formed due to injuries and travel schedules of their regular partners.

18 Compete in Golf Club of Avon's Annual A-B Tournament

Saturday, January 19th was a perfect morning for paddle; brisk temperatures, clear skies and a paddle hut full men itching to play and trash talk their opponents. Just what you hope for as a tournament director.

"A" players were paired with "B" players in a rotating partner round robin format and individual scores were recored for each of the 9 rounds played.

After all was said and done, Joe Pavano from the "A" players and Don Dow from the "B" players were victorious. Joe and Don are sporting their "masters' green paddle sweaters in the photo below.
